How Do You Do Long Tail Tubular Cast On?
There are so many different ways to cast on for your knitting projects. I typically use a long tail cast on and I think this is what most people use… really, thought it all depends on the project and what method you prefer..
My favorite cast on for knitting garments is the long tail tubular cast on for 1x1 ribbing. I just love the way this 1x1 ribbing seamlessly and smoothly rolls over the edges and oh, the elasticity is fantastic! It is very stretchy and perfect for just about anything that requires a stretchy opening.
I learned this technique decades ago and try to teach it to as many fellow knitter I meet if they don’t already use it. I think it’s kind of hard to explain it unless I could sit with them and visually show how it is done. Then, by chance, I found a perfect video tutorial by Ysolda! She is awesome! Please check out her website as well here.
Note: She does have a few updated long tail tubular cast on tutorials on her site but this one is my favorite!
